The Classic Bath

Classic & Stretch Walk In Safety Bath

The Classic is a walk in bathtub with an outward opening door. It is available as a soaker bathtub or as a spa bath with water jets or warm air massage. The Stretch model is similar but with a higher seat. It is for people who are over 1.8m tall and weigh more than 140kg.

CONSIDERATIONS FOR USE
. Suitable for ambulant users. Can be used with an over track hoist. Not wheelchair accessible.
. After entering the bath, the user needs to wait for bath to fill with water. The water has to be drained out of the bath before the door can be opened to exit the bath.

Method Of Use

When bath door is open, the user steps into the bath. The door automatically seals when closed. Bath is filled to desired temperature and level by the user or attendant. To exit the bath, the water first needs to be drained from the bath, prior to the door being opened.

Models

1) The Classic model - with a booster seat to provide additional height for those who find it difficult to rise from a sitting position. Available with or without spa features.

2) The Stretch model - Recommended for those who are over 1.8m tall and or over 140 kg. No booster seat is provided with the Stretch model as the seat is 362mm high. Available with or without spa features.

Options

The following options are available with either the Classic or Stretch models:

. Moulded corner skirt - a three corner skirt finishes off the rough area left by the removal of a regular sized bathtub. The corner skirt is a solid fibreglass panel which covers the floor and two walls.
. Heated seat
. Left Hand Door Swing / Right Hand Door Swing

Spa options:
4 water jet whirlpool system with 2 air volume controls
12 jet warm air massage system with check valves, warm air blower and touch pad control

Installation

No major renovations are required. Safety Bath is a self contained unit. It can be installed in any convenient location in the home. Requires professional installation by a plumber (and an electrician if a spa is included).

The Bath will pass through any 760mm door opening - 710mm with jam removed.

In public buildings, fitted baths and showers must be installed in accordance with AS1428: Part 1.

Standards

Standards
Some assistive technology needs to meet Australian or other standards. Standards may relate to materials, manufacturing and installation. Products that meet Australian or international standards will have written certification. To find out if a product meets Australian Standards ask the supplier to show you the certificate. TGA
Many of the items on the Assistive Technology Australia website are categorised as a Medical Device. Medical devices that are approved for use in Australia have been entered into a national database called the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG), which is maintained by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). You can ask the supplier for the ARTG number for the device you wish to purchase and search the ARTG for the entry. To access information on the ARTG visit www.tga.gov.au

When buying a medical device it is advisable to only choose a medical device that is recommended by a healthcare professional and has been included on the ARTG.

Certification
Safety Bath Inc. has CSA (Canadian Standards Association) and ANSI(American National Standards Institute)/UL(Underwriters Laboratories) approval on the bathtubs and on all the components of the bathtub.
