Visio Replaceable Cells

TheraKair Visio Air Pulsation Mattress Replacement

TheraKair Visio is a mattress replacement system designed to manage all extrinsic causes of pressure injury development for people at high risk of pressure injuries. It uses silent low air loss, Gore-Tex medical fabric and pulsation therapy to deliver pressure, shear and friction relief, manage the skin's microclimate and improve blood and lymph flow. The system is operated from an intuitive touch screen.

More Details

Functions
* Low Air Loss:
* Conforms to bony prominences, minimising deformation of body tissue
* Allows patient to sink into mattress evenly distributing pressure
* Helps reduce pressure induced pain
* Pulsation Therapy:
* Can be effective in managing oedema and pain, using small pockets of air, individually inflated and deflated, to cause a pulsation wave
* The pulsation wave runs from the foot to the head of the mattress
* Reduction in oedema increases blood flow and reduces pain
* Improves capilliary blood flow, increasing oxygenation to the wound and skin
* Pulsation Therapy mimics the body's natural intermittent movements stimulating lymphatic flow. Lymphatics have little contraction ability in their own right and rely on movement to stimulate lymph flow
* Patient Warmer:
* Warmed air can pass through Gore-tex Medical Fabric and circulate around patient, increasing patient comfort
* Instaflate:
* Inflates mattress to its maximum firmness for ease of patient placement and care

Structure
* Individual cells are replaceable

Pump / Controls
* Quiet operation
* Intuitive Touch Screen
* An easy to navigate 'touch screen' interface gives details of system status and allows for easy and precise therapy adjustment

Cover
* GORE-TEX Medical Fabric:
* Smooth laminate surface reduces frictional drag and shear
* Designed for managing the skin's microclimate. This is due to high MVTR (Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate) to prevent skin maceration
* Waterproof to reduce contamination of mattress
* Bacterial barrier to help prevent infection
* Air flows through Gore-Tex at a controlled rate, removing excess moisture and maintaining a constant skin temperature, whilst preventing bacterial contamination. It provides a consistent bacterial barrier to 0.2 mic particle size

Indications
* TheraKair Visio is currently indicated for:
* Prevention and treatment of pressure injurys
* Patients requiring pain management
* Oedema management

Safety Features
* CPR - One quick movement evacuates air from the mattress in a maximum of ten seconds
* During operation, an alarm will sound and an alarm message will be displayed if a fault is detected

Contraindications
* TheraKair Visio is currently contraindicated for patients with:
* Cervical traction
* Unstable spinal cord injury

TheraKair Visio?
* Side Rails and Restraints: use or non-use of restraints, including side rails, can be critical to patient safety. Warning: serious injury or death can result from the use (potential entrapment) or non-use (potential patient falls) of side rails or other restraints
* Patient Migration: as with all specialty bed products that are designed to reduce shear and pressure on the patient's skin, the risk of gradual movement and/or sinking into hazardous positions of entrapment and/or inadvertent bed exit may be increased
* Skeletal Traction: with skeletal traction, use care to guard against risks of patient migration or inadvertent deflation of air surface

Considerations

All pressure reduction products must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion or mattress. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (eg correct inflation levels), a different product may need to be considered.
