Handicare 2000

Handicare 2000 Curved Stairlift

A chair stairlift that transports a person up and down a stairway seat on a chair which is pulled along tracking by a battery powered drive system. The twin rail can be customised to fit staircases with bends, spirals and intermediate landings. Has a fixed or swivel seat and push button or toggle switch controls as well as a perch seat option. Models are available for indoor or outdoor use. If this lift is to be used in a public building it must comply with the relevant Australian Standard. Contact the supplier for details

Rail / Track
* The slimline stairlift consists of a two rail steel tube track mounted onto the stair tread beside the wall. The track finishes flush with the landing unless an overrun is requested.

Seat
* The stairlift features a padded and upholstered seat which is available in either a fixed, folding model or a swivel folding model depending on the application. A retractor seat belt is standard.
* A range of fabric colours are available.

Footrest
* The extra low carpeted footrest folds out when in use and has a lever to enable it to be folded up without bending down.

Controls
* A toggle switch control is used by the occupant with push button call buttons at each level of the stairs.

Power Source
* Maintenance free battery and standard household mains electricity supply.

Safety Features
* Include an automatic stop if an obstruction is encountered, speed limit switches and final limit devices to automatically stop at the top and bottom landings. Thermal overload switch. Swivel seat cut off switch (on swivel seat model). Manual lowering mechanism

Dismantling / Folding
* The platform and barrier arms fold up manually when not in use

Considerations

Lift registration
In NSW the owner or controller of the lift (if not the owner) is required to register their lift with WorkCover. They need to complete the WorkCover form PIR (Plant Item Registration)January 2011 Application for the registration of an item of plant

A fee of $65 is charged for a lift installed in a public place. There is no charge for a lift installed in a private home. The applicant must state that the plant has been inspected by a competent person and is safe to operate (use).

It is compulsory that the lift in a public place be inspected annually by a competent person. WorkCover requires payment for registration as well as an annual fee.

It is an offence to operate plant that is not correctly registered under the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2001.
