Kiwi Bath Lift

Kiwi Bath Support/Lift

Metal bath frame with a mesh sling which supports child level with rim of bath. When metal arm is lifted over child's head and lowered to opposite end, child is lowered into bath. The bars which support the top and bottom of the sling are covered with firm cylindrical foam. Three horizontal straps and a crotch strap support the child.

Suitability
* Children weighing up to 30kg and measuring a maximum of 68cm from the bottom of their buttocks to mid ear
* Designed to fit baths with an internal width of 510 mm and external width of 700 mm
* Units can be manufactured to fit non-standard baths

Frame
* Black plastic coated steel
* Folds flat for storage
* Plastic handles on frame ends (that rest on bath rims)
* Two nylon cords which connect the lifting arm to base of seat to effect the lift
* Plastic twist lock on frame - keeps aid flat for storage and transportation

Fabric
* White loose weave polyester mesh
* Nylon webbing straps with Velcro fastening

Lifting technique
* The child can be transferred from chair / wheelchair onto bath in its raised position - level with top of bath
* Straps should be attached around child - particularly over the arms - for the lowering stage
* Outer part of frame near child's head should be lifted over child to rest on bath rim at other end - this lowers child into bath in a semi reclined position
* After bathing, this procedure should be reversed to lift child to top of bath

Considerations

* Take care to ensure that the child's hands are held within the hammock to avoid frame entrapment
* Never leave a child unattended in a bath
* Always check the water temperature before lowering the child in
* Always ask the supplier for a dry trial
