* An elastomer system in TED stockings is specifically designed to speed blood flow by providing graduated compression with the most compression at the ankle and gradually diminishing pressure up the calf
* The open toe style allows inspection of the toes to provide easy access for medical examination
* The stockings are white but can be dyed
* Two pairs should be purchased together to allow one pair to be washed whilst the other is worn
* The full length stockings have side panels and a waist belt to prevent them slipping down

* Severe vascular diseases, such as arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) that cause poor circulation of the leg
* Massive oedema (swelling) of the legs, or pulmonary oedema (fluid in the lungs) from congestive heart failure
* Extreme deformity of the leg
