Considerations

There are a few drawbacks with a 3- versus 4-wheeled walker. When choosing the three-wheeled option, you might find the following drawbacks:
* Less stable: Inherently, the three wheel design is less stable than the four wheel option. A lack of a fourth wheel may not work well for a person that puts extreme weight on their walker or has severe balance issues.
* No seat: Another issue may also be experienced if you have a walker with a built-in seat. More people are using the seated option on their walker, which allows for a much-needed rest after a long walk. Most three-wheel walkers do not have that option.

If this sounds like you, discuss your options with a physiotherapist.

Please consider the maximum weight that the walker can bear if you need significant help with walking.
