Aspire Lifecomfort Hybrid Mattress System

A mattress replacement system to assist with pressure redistribution that offers both powered and static inflation modes. Consists of a foam-in-cell mattress composition that allows the alternating pressure support surface to be switched to self adjusting air and foam support. Also offers a uniform air static mode for stability when transferring. Memory foam top surface moves independently of underneath air calls reducing shear when adjusting bed profile.

More Details

Structure
* The integrated top layer of memory foam can help improve immersion, envelopment and comfort
* The memory foam overlay moves independently of the underlying cells, reducing shear as the bed profiles.
* In non-powered mode, nine interconnected foam filled cells allow air to move freely between them via the user's body movements, allowing self adjusting pressure redistribution
* A 12 degree tapered heel zone redistributes pressure up the lower leg, away from the vulnerable heel region. The castellated surface collapses in a wave-like movement, helping to reduce shear.

Cover
* The multi-stretch cover can help to reduce shear and offers a high Moisture Vapour Transfer Rate (MVTR), promoting air flow and optimal skin microclimate
* Fully welded seams, with waterfall zip covers, protect against fluid ingress

Attachment
* Check with the supplier

Pump / Controls for alternating air mattress overlays
* By connecting the pump, the mattress can become an active alternating support surface that redistributes pressure via a 1 in 2 alternating cycle.
* In powered function, alternating and static modes become available
* Pump may offer reduced noise and vibration
* By attaching the pump, support surface requirements can be changed reducing the need to transfer users and manually swap mattresses. Mattress handles assist maneuvering or mattress movement if necessary

Safety Features
* When not in use the air-hose can be stored internally, reducing infection control and OH&S issues
* CPR Compatible - In non-powered mode, the foam-core cells allow CPR to take place. When in powered mode, simply disconnect the pump to facilitate resuscitation.

Customised Features
* Check with the supplier

Considerations

All pressure reduction products must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion or mattress. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (eg correct inflation levels), a different product may need to be considered.

It is advisable that a health professional be consulted when considering a suitable pressure care product.
