Structure
* The triangular or tetrahedral shaped air filled cells have a low friction level when in contact with each other and are able to continuously adapt and conform to the bodies contours. This aims to provide a combination of good pressure relief with reduced shearing and a high degree of stability.
* User specific requirements can be accommodated by the addition or removal of tetrahedral cells from each of the compartments.

Cover
* The outer cover is made from polyurethane-coated fleece fabric that has two-way stretch and is liquid proof.
* The mattress is fitted with handles for transportation purposes.

Attachment
* The four corners of the mattress are fitted with double plastic rings to provide a four-point fixation of the bed sheet to prevent hammocking which occurs if the sheet is fitted too tightly.

Considerations

* Tetrahedral cells and cover can help reduce shear and improve pressure relief.
* The tetrahedral cells shift and resettle with movement of the user.
* Punctures will affect individual air cells only.
* Resuscitation and cardiac massage can be performed without any additional measures.

All pressure reduction products must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion or mattress. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (eg correct inflation levels), a different product may need to be considered.
