Short Description
A combination gel bariatric and foam cushion with a water-based upper layer and a high-density foam bottom layer. There is a vinyl, waterproof inner cover to prevent moisture build up within the cushion and a low shear outer cover to reduce skin friction and shear.
Additional Info
More Details
* The cushion is available in seven sizes
* A water-based gel flotation pad works to provide pressure relief and keep the user cool to reduce perspiration that may lead to skin damage
* To prevent the user from bottoming out there is also a layer of high density foam which keeps the user comfortable
Method Of Use
To keep the user safe the cushion has an anti-slip bottom and straps to secure the cushion to the seat or wheelchair.
Considerations
* All cushions must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (e.g. correct choice and depth of foam, correct inflation level), a different product may need to be considered
* The gel cells or fluid on the top layer of the cushion can be punctured
* Ensure that the item is not accidentally placed upside down or back to front
* It is advisable that a health professional be consulted when considering a suitable pressure care product
