Kivi Person Lift

Kivi Person Lift and Combi Lift

The Kivi Person Lift is a vehicle mounted hoist designed to carry a person from a wheelchair into the front seat of the vehicle. It uses a pivoting arm to optimise the transfer space. The arm has attachment points for the transfer sling. For larger vehicles there is the Combi Person Lift that incorporates a lifting cylinder allowing the occupant to reach higher seats. It enables a person to be transferred into the back seat of vehicles with sliding rear doors. A mobile vehicle bracket allows the Person Lift to be used without needing to modify the vehicle and allows the product to be easily transferred between vehicles. The Person Lift can be stored in the boot of the vehicle. Both lifts can also be used in the home.

More Details

Key features of the Person lifts include:
* Fixed or mobile vehicle brackets
* Left or Right side applications
* Combi option available for higher vehicles
* Sling sizes: Small, Medium and Large
* Push button handset
* Can also be used inside the home either with a mobile frame or fixed wall bracket
* EMC tested and CE marked

Kivi Combi Lift
* For high clearance vehicles as minivans, SUVs and commercial vehicles. The system consists of a lifting cylinder, a mobile bracket, an articulated arm, a sling seat and of a rocker switch or a push button handset. Its operation is the same as the Kivi Person Lift K-PL100.

Home Use
* K-PL100 and K-PPL100 can also be used as a person lift inside the house, in combination with a wall bracket or a mobile frame. In the first case, the articulated arm of the lift is fitted into a bracket, which, in turn, is fixed to the wall, where the device has to be used. In the second case, instead, the lift arm is fitted to a special wheeled cart which allows the lift to be used everywhere.

Method Of Use

The caregiver will position the sling seat behind the passenger's back, letting the lower edges slide under the thighs and the upper edges under the armpits. Then, he/she will fasten the four attachment points of the sling seat to attachment points on the lift arm. Upwards and downwards movement is electrically controlled by a push button handset, while the lateral movement, to enter and exit, is manually operated.

Installation

All vehicle modifications must be installed by an authorised agent.

The RMS requires evidence that the safety standards originally built into the vehicle have been maintained. Therefore, the modifications must be certified by an Engineering Signatory who is recognised by the RMS for this purpose. If the modifications are satisfactory, the signatory will issue an Engineering Certificate which must be presented to the RMS. The RMS maintains a list of Engineering Signatories.

Standards

Standards
Some assistive technology needs to meet Australian or other standards. Standards may relate to materials, manufacturing and installation. Products that meet Australian or international standards will have written certification. To find out if a product meets Australian Standards ask the supplier to show you the certificate. For more information about standards also see

TGA
Many of the items on the Assistive Technology Australia website are categorised as a Medical Device. Medical devices that are approved for use in Australia have been entered into a national database called the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG), which is maintained by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). You can ask the supplier for the ARTG number for the device you wish to purchase and search the ARTG for the entry. To access information on the ARTG visit www.tga.gov.au

When buying a medical device it is advisable to only choose a medical device that is recommended by a healthcare professional and has been included on the ARTG.

Please note that custom made devices are not required to undergo pre-market assessment by the TGA or to be included on the ARTG before supply. Custom made medical devices do not include medical devices that have been adapted or modified to accommodate an individual patient.
