Additional Info
More Details
Frame
* Wooden base
* The frame has been designed to be less''institutional' in appearance which makes this bed suitable for domestic settings however it is also suitable for healthcare facility use.
Bed lengths
* All Wissner-Bosserhoff nursing home beds are equipped with an integrated bed extension. With the express bed extension, the Carisma can be flexibly adjusted to different bed lengths with divided side guards.
* Three bed lengths: 200, 210 and 220mm
Patient surfaces
Three different patient surface options:
* The wire mesh patient surface Aero ensures good aeration.
* The synthetic mats of the Easyclean surface are especially easy to clean.
* The comfort patient surface with its soft positioning properties , supports bedsore prevention. The edge zone elements with harder springs serve as an orientation when asleep, and facilitate getting up
In general, the patient surface partitions can be easily removed and cleaned (b).
Headboard / Footboard
* Wooden veneer headboard and footboard. There is a choice of different shaped boards. An optional low footboard allows the appearance of a normal bed with the added safety of siderails (available only with type10 siderails). Each style is available in a number of wood veneer colours.
Controls
Electrically operated hand held control which is attached to the bed via a flexible cord. There are five activation buttons to control the following functions - Headrest, Headrest and Legrest, Height Adjustment, Comfort Sitting position, Decubitus Prophylaxis Position
Once a function is selected, two activation buttons determine the exact position ie Up or Down
The control can be "locked" so that the client cannot change the position of the bed.
Adjustments
* Height - electrically adjustable
* Backrest angle - electrically adjustable
* Legrest angle - electrically adjustable
* Footrest angle (knee break) - manually adjustable ratchet system
* Decubitus Prophylaxis Position (pressure injury prevention) - electrically operated.
This automatic position has been pre programmed into the hand control for quick access. In this position the occupants legs are elevated and the backrest raised to a half Fowler position (30 degrees). This is recommended for taking pressure off the blood vessels, for example, in conjunction with venous disorders, but can also be used for preventing bedsores. If necessary for medical reasons, positioning for treatment of shock can be achieved from this posture by lowering the back rest.
* Binetic frame Comfort Seat Position - electrically adjustable
This is is permanently programmed in the handset. The "double retraction" facility creates space in bed. On moving the backrest to the upright position, the back rest is retracted by 11 cm and the leg rest by 6 cm, reducing frictional and shearing forces and lowering contact pressure in the pelvic region.
Mattress
* Not provided with the bed. A foam mattress can be purchased separately or the bed frame can also be used with any suitably sized standard or pressure relieving mattresses.
Castors
* Swivel castors
Brakes
* Available with either manually or electrically operated brakes. Manually operated brakes can be operated in any position. Electrically operated brakes can only be released by lowering the bed to its lowest point.
Bed Rails
Bed rails are metal with wooden facades on the top surface. Two different styles are available.
* Traditional full length double siderails (Type 09) with either a Grip Release mechanism or a Recessed Release mechanism
* Innovative siderails (Type 10) that split lengthways into two sections (side protections) so one section can remain up while the other is down. In their highest position the two sections lock together so they act as a one piece full side rail.
Power Source
* Mains power
Motor
* Beneath the base frame
Dismantling
* The bed cannot be dismantled. The head and foot end can be removed.
Option Details
* Lifting pole with retractable handgrip
* IV pole - adjustable height
* Urine bottle holder
* Urine bag holder

Considerations
In certain circumstances there is an element of risk involved in the use of a device that attaches to the side of a bed such that there is the possibility of entrapment between the device and the mattress. This includes but is not limited to a bed pole (stick), bed rail or bed rail protector. The device may increase the risk of injury or even death to the bed occupant. Entrapment of limbs or body parts may occur with parts of the bed and the device. Some bed occupants may try to climb over a bed rail to get out of bed.
A risk assessment should be undertaken in each circumstance of use. The device should not be used in circumstances where there is a gap between the vertical components and the mattress. Users most at risk include those with physical or cognitive challenges or where the intended user's alertness is affected by medication.
Regular monitoring is recommended, particularly where the user's condition is changing.
