More Details

Structure
*The mattress consists of eight connected air cells which have intake and output valves to allow air flow in or out as required.
* The air cells self regulate the flow of air with the movement of the patient and no external power unit is required.
* The air cells sit inside a foam base and has an elastic foam cover on top.
* The mattress has a sloped lower leg design to help reduce pressure under the heel area.

Attachment
* The mattress is attached to the bed frame via an adjustable buckle to prevent slippage of the mattress.

Pump
* A manual pump is an optional extra if some additional inflation is required but the mattress does not have a power operated unit.

Cover
*The cover is 100% nylon waterproof but vapour permeable with a PU (polyurethane) backing and is removable. It has a two way stretch and is machine washable.

Sizes
* The mattress comes in single or king single sizes.

Considerations

All pressure reduction products must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion or mattress. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (eg correct inflation levels), a different product may need to be considered.

It is advisable that a health professional be consulted when considering a suitable pressure care product.
