More Details

Structure
* The mattress has twenty air cells which can be set to alternate on four different cycle periods or set in a static mode
* The cell height for inflation is eight inches and individual cells may also be replaced if needed
* The base is two inch convoluted foam
* Between the shoulder and waist region the cells are ventilated for increased air circulation

Attachment
* The mattress has adjustable buckle fastenings that loop around the bed frame

Pump / Controls
* The mattress power unit is electrically operated, and has a quick release coupling for easy detachment from the mattress when required.
* The users weight and cycle times are entered into the unit and this is also displayed on the digital display

Cover
* Removable, nylon cover with PU backing for waterproof function
* Cover has a four way stretch and is water vapour permeable (breathable). It has been treated with antibacterial and anti fungal coating and is fire retardant

Customised Features
* The mattress is able to be programmed into a firm mode which hardens the mattress for assistance with transfers
* The upright mode increases the pressure in a sitting position to prevent any bottoming out

Safety Features
* There are visual and audible alarms to indicate low pressure or a power outage
* The mattress can maintain its inflation for up to two hours after a power outage
* The CPR pull tab allows for rapid deflation of the mattress within seconds in the event of an emergency

Considerations

All pressure reduction products must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion or mattress. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (eg correct inflation levels), a different product may need to be considered.

It is advisable that a health professional be consulted when considering a suitable pressure care product.
