Installation

* Installation takes approximately six hours
* The hoist needs to be installed by an automotive electrician
* It fits most two door and most four door cars

More Details

Construction
* The hoist is constructed from steel
* The lifting arm of the hoist consists of three components - spreader bar, extension bar and hydraulic boom - which can be easily removed when the hoist is not in use
* The three separate pivoting points of the lifting arm allow the person to be lifted and easily manoeuvred into the vehicle
* The length of the lifting arm can be adjusted to suit all cars and individuals being lifted

Mounting
* This is via a plate, which is fixed to the vehicle floor, adjacent to the door frame. This can be removed and transferred to a new vehicle if required and extra mounting posts can be purchased to enable the hoist to be moved between vehicles.

Operation
* The lifting movement (up and down) is controlled electrically from the car's 12 volt battery
* The hoist is controlled by a small, hand held control box on a cord, which can be attached to the hoist using hook and loop fastening. It has two switches, one for ON/OFF and the other for UP/DOWN
* The sideways movement (into and out of the car doorway) and pivoting movements are controlled manually, either directed by the assistant or facilitated by the hoist user themselves
* The hoist has three pivot points, enabling good manoeuvrability

Slings
* A range of slings are available in a range of sizes
* Each sling has adjustable straps and four points of attachment

Travel
* The hoist can be left in position at the side of the seat whilst driving but the extension and spreader arms should be removed.

Electrical Controls
* Hand held on an extendable lead, with two switches: on / off and up / down
* The control can attach to the hoist with hook and loop tape if required

Power source
* Is directly from the car battery which feeds the 12 volt motor

Optional domestic use
* The hoist can also be used around the home in any place where a mounting bracket can be fitted to the wall
* When fitted in the home, it can be powered by a small sealed 12 volt battery or transformer taking power from any 3 pin plug
* Extra mounting posts can be supplied so that the single hoist can be used in various places

Method Of Use

1. Manoeuvre the wheelchair into position at the passenger door of the vehicle and fit the sling.
2. Remove the lifting arm section from the boot and place into the mounting bracket in the vehicle floor,
3. Attach the sling to the lifting arm and use the hand control to raise the person out of the wheelchair.
4. The user of attendant will then need to manually manoeuvre into the vehicle so that they are above the car seat.
5. Use the hand control to lower the person onto the car seat.
6. Remove the sling from the lifting arm. Remove lifting arm from mounting and stow safely in the vehicle.
7. The sling can remain in place during travel. Reverse the process to exit the vehicle.
